Welcome to Reception!

In Reception, we aim that your child becomes school-ready; develop their independence, and grow in confidence.  There are 3 Reception classes based around our year group Author Giles Andreae; Adventurers, (Rumble in the Jungle), Explorers (Mad about Dinosaurs) and Discoverers

(Commotion in the Ocean).

Our devoted staff in the Early Years provide a bright, stimulating and safe environment where

all children feel valued, secure and well cared for. Each class has an experienced Teacher and an Early Years Practitioner who will support your child to reach their full potential over the year.

The Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) has its own curriculum which is based around the

holistic development of your child. This consists of 3 prime aspects (Communication, and Language,

Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional development and 4 specific areas

(    Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world and Expressive Art and Design).  Children will develop

their Early Learning goals through stimulating and cross curricular topics such as:  Traditional tales,

Fairy tales, People Who Help Us, Space, Animals etc.

Your child will experience activities such as bowling, art mornings, teddy bears picnic, sports day

and many more fun adventurers, over the year. You as Parents will have opportunity to be part of

their learning through multi-cultural celebrations such as Diwali, Christmas, Chinese New year, Easter and Eid alongside workshops linked to Literacy and Maths.

The Early Years team value the partnership between home and school and encourage you to play

an active part in your child’s education.  Any time you wish to discuss anything regarding

your child’s education, teachers are always happy to see you after school alongside

termly professional dialogue meeting (dates will be advised).

We look forward to working in partnership with you and your child. The Reception Team.
