Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Welcome to Year 5 and a FABULOUS new school year. We will have a busy and challenging year but a lot of fun along the way.

Events in year 5

Our promise trip is to the theatre where children will experience the atmosphere of a pantomime. Our other trip will be to the science museum where children will investigate and participate in a variety of experiments. In February we will participate in a Harry Potter afternoon where children will dress up as characters from the books and participate in a variety of wizarding activities related to reading. Year 5 will compete in a spelling bee and strictly speaking competition with the other Federation schools.

Committed to High Expectations

1.We believe  in working closely with parents and your children to help promote progress and attainment.

 2. WE are committed TO YOUR child experiencing success in their learning and development

3.WE  recognise that every child can learn, but some children require quite different opportunities and supports to do this

4. WE  work with families to support children’s learning and development at home and in the community

5. WE value all children’s strengths and differences

6.WE  use our knowledge of each child to assess and plan for their learning and development

7. WE take responsibility for each child’s learning and development

In year 5 we are very lucky to go swimming.

Swimming lessons,  are for 5 Rowling and 5 Pullman  for the Autumn term .

Swimming lessons for 5 Pratchett and 5 Lane will be in the Summer Term.

Homework is given out in the form of a topic pack each term. Children need to continue to practise their times tables and spellings. Also take time to read every evening.

We look forward to an exciting year !
